Fleas can come and GO !

Published on 20 June 2025 at 20:58

Funny thing is a lot of Realtors and sellers say when we find something not working they say "It was fine yesterday?" well we were in the house two days ago and there were no fleas. Like we are lying about something. I useally say well I am fine today but could have a heart attack tommorrow so shut up (I don't really say shut up)

Yes, fleas can seem to come and go, but they’re usually just hiding or in different life stages. Here’s what’s really happening:

🪳 Why Fleas Seem to Come and Go:

  1. Life Cycle Phases: Fleas go through egg, larva, pupa, and adult stages. Eggs and larvae can hide deep in carpets, cracks, and pet bedding for days or weeks before emerging.

  2. Environmental Conditions: Fleas become more active with warmth and humidity. You might not see them in colder/drier conditions, but they’re still around.

  3. Host Presence: If your pet (or you!) isn't around for a bit, adult fleas may stay hidden or dormant, waiting for a host.

  4. Pupa Stage Delay: Fleas in cocoons (pupa stage) can wait for vibrations, heat, or carbon dioxide to hatch. They can lie low for weeks, then suddenly “appear” when the conditions are right.

🧼 What to Do:

  • Vacuum frequently — carpets, furniture, and baseboards.

  • Wash pet bedding in hot water regularly.

  • Treat pets with consistent flea prevention.

  • Use flea sprays or foggers for the environment if needed.
