Asbestos sewer stack and then some

Asbestos cement (AC) pipes were widely used in sewer systems due to their durability and affordability during the mid-20th century. However, health concerns about asbestos exposure led to a phasing out of AC pipes in plumbing and construction in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Mice intrusion is a common issue in homes, but the exact number or percentage of homes affected can vary based on several factors, including location, age of the home, and how well it is maintained. While precise global or national statistics can be hard to pin down, some surveys and studies provide insights:

1. **National Pest Management Association (NPMA):** According to the NPMA, approximately 21 million homes in the United States experience rodent infestations each year. This includes both mice and rats.

2. **Urban vs. Rural:** Homes in urban areas might have a higher likelihood of rodent intrusion due to higher population density and proximity to food sources. Conversely, rural homes might also be prone to mice due to their proximity to open fields and natural habitats for mice.

3. **Seasonal Variation:** Mice intrusion tends to increase during the colder months (fall and winter) as rodents seek shelter and warmth inside homes. During these periods, it's estimated that around 29% of U.S. households report seeing a rodent.

4. **Older Homes:** Older homes, especially those with cracks, gaps, or deteriorating foundations, are more likely to experience mice intrusions due to easier access points.

5. **Preventative Measures:** Homes without proper preventative measures, such as sealed entry points, regular pest control, and cleanliness, are more susceptible to mice.

While it’s difficult to pinpoint an exact global figure, it's clear that mice intrusion is a widespread issue affecting millions of homes, particularly in certain regions and during specific times of the year.
